🛠️ What is 7S?

7S is a structured methodology designed to create a more organised, efficient, and safe workspace. It expands on the traditional 5S approach by adding Safety and Security as additional elements.

The 7S framework serves as a foundation for implementing lean production tools and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring work areas are well-organised, clean, and secure—making it easier for employees to perform tasks efficiently and safely.

🔤 7S Translation

The term 7S comes from five Japanese words, with two additional practices added:

1️⃣ Sort (Seiri) – Remove unnecessary items from the workspace to eliminate clutter.
2️⃣ Straighten (Seiton) – Arrange and label items so they are easy to find and use.
3️⃣ Shine (Seiso) – Clean the workspace and equipment regularly to maintain readiness.
4️⃣ Standardise (Seiketsu) – Develop consistent procedures to maintain order and cleanliness.
5️⃣ Sustain (Shitsuke) – Embed discipline and commitment to maintain improvements.
6️⃣ Safety – Implement measures to protect employees from hazards.
7️⃣ Security – Put in place controls to safeguard assets, data, and processes.
